A science popularization event at our Institute – Open Day ISRZ, at which the work of our researchers and colleagues from partner institutions was presented to the broader public, was held on 23rd May, 2019.

We were especially delighted to be able to host students of the “Josip Slavenski“ Secondary School from Čakovec and their teacher, Ms Marija Dobec, professor of French and Spanish.

In accordance with the topic of the project “European Researchers´ Night: Techno-Past Techno-Future”, which is focused on technology and social changes and within which this year’s Open Day is financed, an introductory lecture titled “Addiction to self in the time of selfies“ was held by the Institute’s collaborator from Ljubljana, anthropologist Dan Podjed, Ph.D.

Further on, Iva Košutić, Ph.D. and Mirta Mornar from the ISRZ Centre for Educational Research and Development conducted workshops for students aimed at promoting tolerance, equality and mutual respect.

Anamarija Tkalčec from the Center for Education, Counselling and Research held a workshop for students on gender equality.

Dunja Potočnik, Ph.D. (ISRZ Centre for Youth and Gender Studies) presented the forthcoming ERN 2019 main event which will be held on 27th September 2019. Lana Peternel, Ph.D. (ISRZ Centre for Research in Social Inequalities and Sustainability) presented the impressions and experiences from last year’s ERN main event and the ERN 2018 promotional film.

This year’s Open Day ISRZ was organized and financed within the H2020-MSCA-NIGHT-2018 EU project (Horizon 2020 Programme) in which ISRZ is one of 18 partners and Ministry of Science and Education is the coordinator.
