Team of the CSF project RESETH held a presentation at the Swedish STS Conference 2026

Published: 08.07.2026.

Our researchers Marija Brajdić Vuković, Magda Profaca and Ivan Tranfić presented at the Swedish STS Conference 2026: Cross-Pollinations, Contamination, Collaboration a paper entitled “Contaminated Boundaries? Situated Responsibility and the Negotiation of Science–Society Interfaces: Autonomy as Regulated Permeability Across Four Arenas“.

The paper explores the ways in which researchers from social, natural, technical and biomedical disciplines make decisions about collaboration with politics, economy, media and institutions, while suggesting that scientific research autonomy is not acquired by isolation from society, but by responsible regulation of boundaries between science and social actors. The analysis points that various disciplines develop various patterns of responsible social engagement, depending on their epistemological cultures and professional missions.

The paper is part of the CSF project RESETH – Social responsibility and professional ethics of Croatian researchers, which explores the ways in which Croatian researchers understand and achieve professional and social responsibility as well as the institutional conditions enabling or hindering responsible practising of scientific research.
