'Sociology and Space' announces a special thematic issue dedicated to urban studies and the concept of intelligence of errors
Published: 13.05.2025.

The Institute's journal “Sociology and Space“ is thrilled to announce a special thematic issue dedicated to urban studies and this year's Venice Biennale. The guest editor of the special issue is Ida Križaj Leko, Head of the interdisciplinary university programme of Urban Studies at the University of Rijeka and the Croatian commissioner at the Biennale.
As part of this collaboration and upon invitation of the Ministry of Culture and Media, Director of the Institute Boris Jokić, Editor-in-chief of “Sociology and Space“ Lana Peternel, Managing Editor Anja Gvozdanović and Secretary Stjepan Tribuson had the honour to attend the official opening of the Croatian pavillion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – the Venice Biennale on 9th May. The contacts made in Venice have already been turned into authors' contributions and the editors' conception of the forthcoming issue.
We are pleased that with this collaboration the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb extends its network of collaborators and connects with the actors whose agency is outside of the traditional framework of the social sciences, by which we are confirming our openness towards new topics, perspectives and forms of dialogue on space and society.
