Participation of Institute's researchers in the 33rd Days of Frane Petrić

At the international scientific symposium within the 33rd Days of Frane Petrić, a significant contribution was given by researchers of the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb. This year's symposium was titled “The Concept of the Future in Philosophy, Science and Society“. It gathered many experts from Croatia and abroad in an attempt to interdisciplinary reflect on current and future challenges of humanity. The symposium was held in Cres, from 21 till 24 September 2025.

Dunja Potočnik, PhD, in collaboration with Vlasta Ilišin and Anja Gvozdanović, presented the lecture “Youth Quality of Life: Reimagining Youth Future in an Age of Uncertainty“, dedicated to the reflection on the quality of life of youth in the context of global uncertainties.

Sandra Antulić Majcen, PhD, participated as the co-author of the lecture “Pandemic Generation? Disruptions, Discourses, and Youth Empowerment“, together with Andrej Naterer and Dunja Potočnik. The lecture analysed the effects of the pandemic on youth through discourses on generational vulnerability and youth coping strategies in facing crises.

Roko Uvodić was the co-author of the lecture “The Future Has already Started: Green and Urban Renovation on Examples of Good Practice in Croatia“, together with Anamaria Klasić and Anđelina Svirčić Gotovac. The focus of the presentation was on innovative and sustainable practices of urban renovation in the Croatian context.

Ana Maskalan, PhD, as the President of the Programme Committee, opened the symposium with the public lecture titled “Who Are the Male and Female Authors of the Future?“. She was also the author of the scientific presentation “Echoes of Hope, Shadows of Threat: Rethinking Utopia Today“, in which she problematised contemporary re-interpretations of utopian ideas.

The participation of our researchers in the conference further emphasised the importance of the connection between philosophical reflection and empirical social studies in the understanding and shaping of the future.
