Our Researchers at the annual ISSP General Assembly
Published: 12.05.2026.

From April 24 to 29, 2026, Prague hosted the General Assembly of the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), one of the longest-running international research networks in the social sciences. The event brought together representatives from more than 30 member countries, with Croatia and ISRZ represented by our researchers Branko Ančić and Filip Fila.
Over the course of a multi-day programme, participants discussed the future of the ISSP, experiences in conducting research, and plans for upcoming research modules. Particular attention was given to the content and methodological aspects of the forthcoming modules 'Social Networks and Resources' (2027) and 'Religion' (2028), which are scheduled for the next fieldwork cycles.
The Assembly also served as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among member countries, exchange best practices, and collectively reflect on the challenges facing the research community in the contemporary social context. Croatia, through ISRZ, participated in the Assembly also in its capacity as a member of the ISSP Standing Committee, contributing to discussions on the further development of the ISSP network.
Additionally, as part of the research session, Filip Fila presented a contribution co-authored with Nikola Petrović, titled 'The ethnic/civic national identity divide over time and how it relates to EU and immigration attitudes in the Croatian data'.
Participation in the event, as well as the entire International Social Survey Programme – ISSP project (007/IDIZ Programme Contract 2024–27.), is financially supported by the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb (ISRZ) within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, funded by the NextGenerationEU instrument.
