Open Day ISRZ 2026 was held

The Open Day ISRZ 2026 was held on Friday, 25 September 2026. After a welcoming word by the director Boris Jokić, the programme began with a presentation by Roko Uvodić, who presented the ways in which citizens of Croatian middle-sized towns perceive green and sustainable urban solutions. Further on, senior research assistant Josip Bilić talked about the consequences of Croatia'a accession into the Schengen Area for everyday life practices in Croatian border areas. Both presentations are based on the research findings of the project “Effects of the Europeanization Process in Selected Urban-Rural Areas of Croatia – HREUURBRUR“, led by Anđelina Svirčić Gotovac, and financed by the NextGeneration EU fund, under the programme agreement between the ISRZ and the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth.

The second part of the programme was dedicated to educational topics. Assistant Vlaho Kavain presented findings on pupils' perception of studying controversial social topics at school, which were obtained within the project “Learning Amidst Disinformation and Social Conflict: Young People and Teachers Co-Constructing Curriculum through Transnational Dialogue (4Cs)“. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Middlesex University (UK) and the University of Toronto. It is financed by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UK), the Croatian Science Foundation (Croatia), and the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council (Canada). The project principal investigator for Croatia is Zrinka Ristić Dedić. Besides the challenges that pupils and teachers face in addressing controversial topics at schools, the Open Day ISRZ also tackled the challenges that Croatian graduate students experience in early phases of their careers. This topic was discussed by scientific advisor Teo Matković, who presented the data obtained by the Eurostudent and Eurograduate projects, and the studies on employability of students carried out since 2017 on request of the Agency for Science and Higher Education.
