Assistant Marko Lucić participated in the Stockholm International Conference of Research in Vocational Education and Training presenting the paper titled “Roll with the changes: Evolution of IVET participation amidst COVID, demographic decline and changing employment structure in the context of proliferating EU VET agenda”, written in co-authorship with Teo Matković, PhD.

Building on the Council Recommendation on vocational education and training (VET) of 2020, the paper presents a new set of indicators complementing existing ones, and the trends regarding these indicators in EU countries. Particular emphasis was put on the importance of greater flexibility and progression opportunities within the VET system, as well as gender balance.

The paper is based on the research carried out within the VETprep project, whose aim is to better understand and respond to the challenges in vocational education and training (VET) across various European contexts, while considering pupils’ demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds. The project compares VET policies and strategies in Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Scotland, and Spain with the overall aim to support policymakers in implementing the Council Recommendation on VET and therefore strengthen sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience.
