Published: 13.04.2026.

As part of the HORIZON EUROPE project Cartography of the Political Novel in Europe (CAPONEU), Karin Doolan, PhD organized a workshop dedicated to the preparation of teachers for teaching the contemporary political novel. The workshop was held on 9 and 10 April 2026. The project, coordinated by the research team of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb, examines political novel both as an important part of European cultural heritage, and as a valuable tool for youth civic education. The workshop at the Institute gathered literature teachers from secondary schools in Croatia, Germany, Poland and Great Britain. The focus was on four novels: Malorie Blackman, Noughts and Crosses; Dino Pešut, Tatin sin; Olga Tokarczuk, Drive Your Plow over the Bones of the Dead; and Fatma Aydemir, Djinns. Final versions of the teaching preparations will be available at the project web-site by the end of 2026: https://www.caponeu.eu/.
