Unatoč raširenosti fenomena privatnih instrukcija, ne samo u Hrvatskoj, nego i u Europi i svijetu, još uvijek nema dovoljno znanstvenih studija koje bi istraživale ovu pojavu. Znanstvena studija “Researching Private Supplementary Tutoring: Methodological Lessons from Diverse Cultures”, čiji su urednici Boris Jokić (IDIZ), Mark Bray i Ora Kwo (University of Hong Kong), nudi pregled i usporedbu fenomena privatnih instrukcija u vrlo raznovrsnim društvenim kontekstima zemalja Europe, Bliskog istoka, Azije i Kariba.

Studija je dobila vrlo pozitivnu recenziju u časopisu “Journal of International and Comparative Education”, 2016, Volume 5, Issue 2, iz koje izdvajamo:

“This book fills a crucial gap in research knowledge about methodological issues facing researchers exploring the worldwide phenomenon of private tutoring. It is indeed impressive for the editors to have assembled a cross-national collection of chapters that focus on a variety of research methods. Every chapter provides helpful lessons and points the way forward for future research on private tutoring.”
