In short

The Institute for Social Research was founded in 1964 in Zagreb by a decision of the Council of the University of Zagreb.

The main Institute activity is scientific research in the field of sociology and sociology related disciplines.

On April 10, 2012 the Institute for Social Research received the official acknowledgment from the European Commission for its "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers incorporating the Charter and Code" and is now entitled to use the special logo "HR Excellence in Research".
